Trick of the trade~ Garlic, we love it! But do you hate to peel it, and opt for the pre-chopped stuff in a jar? Well you don’t have to, and the stuff in a jar tastes nothing like fresh. Prepping a quantity of garlic isn’t that hard, and arent you worth it? Yesterday I peeled 3 heads in 2 minutes flat!
Here’s the trick, simply break apart the head, lightly smash the cloves, and toss into a little bowl of water. The water helps the natural sugars in garlic let go of their papery skins, and won’t stick to you either, and there’s no waiting. They can come right back out of the water. I was making 5 gallons of soup for an Empty Bowls Project fundraiser, but you could prep 1 head on the weekend to use for quick weeknight meals or your weekly meal prep. I used a mini food processor, which would also work with a single head if you hate chopping. Cover the chopped garlic with olive oil and know that any plastic container will ever smell of garlic, but having a dedicated garlic container will make you feel like a big league feeder.
